The above doe is a spanish. We could not get as close to her as with the kiko below.
We always marvel at this miracle. Watching a kid being born is an awesome experience!
Each birth is different. This doe did something I had never seen before. She was eating the sack as she licked the kid. Notice the older kid looking at the new kid! Goats are so curious!
This doe did something new-she was actually sucking on the kids ear to clean it off.
The above photo shows the hoof covers that come off after birth. This can sometimes indicate if the kid was stillborn or alive at birth if a newborn kid is found dead. As the kid attempts to stand, these will rub off. |
