        Goats from Goat Central

So often I see ads for kids that are barely one month old.  So often I see adds for the whole kid crop for sale.  Often I see ads that say "Buy now or they go to the auction" or "Buy now-price reduced!".

Goat Central does not sale goats in this manner. 

They stay until sold.  There are no fire sales here, no gotta move em now sales.

There are a number of reasons we do not do this.

Experience has shown that kids will fail to thrive after weaning.  They can not handle the stress, and therefore do not do well. 

It sets them back in growth.  Do you want to buy a kid that is not psychologically able to handle the stress  of moving to your farm?

Experience has shown that not all the kids born will thrive to weaning.

Some simply fail, for whatever reason-the doe is not thriving in her environment, the kid is not thriving in his environment. Could be the genetics, could simply be the environment.    Do you want to put your money down on a goat with an unknown ability?

Experience has shown us that not all kids will live to weaning.

There could be a genetic problem.  There could be a predator problem. 

Experience has shown that some kids will do very well after weaning.

Experience and data collection will shown who is best.

Not all of our kid crop is a breeding quality animal.  Some (bucks and does) are only good as a meat animal, some (wethers)are good as a small farm pets, some are good enough to be a commercial doe or commercial buck, and some are superior.

We can afford to only sell what we believe is the best of our herd. Are they the best kikos?  From our herd, yes.    Heck, it is a lot of money to spend on goats, and you want your moneys worth.  We make every effort to provide superior goats to our buyers. 

For us, if they are good enough to sell, they are good enough to stay.
